Man Who Started Clover Fire Not Suspect In Disappearance Of His Niece

Local media, including KQMS, have unintentionally misrepresented some key details in a tragic story about the death of a 2-and-a-half year old Red Bluff girl. Although the child abuse death of young Scarlett Petersen occurred in August of 2013, no arrest has been made. Scarlett had been in the care of her uncle, Shawn Ahern and his girlfriend, Ashley Croom. Another one of Scarlett’s uncles is Zane Peterson, who’s in prison for starting the Clover Fire the month after Scarlett’s death. He was never, and is not now, a suspect.
