A young Redding man was killed on Interstate Five Tuesday morning south of Red Bluff. At 3:44AM the 21-year-old man was driving a 2017 Jeep northbound at an unknown speed when the Jeep drifted to the left at Elder Creek and struck a guardrail. That caused the Jeep to be deflected back onto the freeway, where it spun around and came to rest sitting sideways across the slow lane. 25-year-old Roman Duscoy, driving of a Freightliner traveling north at 65 miles an hour, saw the Jeep stopped in his lane and hit his brakes but he could not stop in time and the big rig broadsided the Jeep on the driver’s side. The Jeep driver, whose name has not been released, was killed on impact.
