The union representing Tehama County Sheriff’s Office employees says it’s reached an impasse in salary negotiations. The union represents more than a hundred employees, and says they’re paid far less than their counterparts in other counties. They claim the difference is almost 15% for deputies and 23% for administrative secretaries, with various scales for other positions. With such low comparable salaries, the union asks how the department will ever be able to fill their open positions. They also point out that raises were just granted to county elected officials, and recommended for the board of supervisors.
