A man plunged his car into the Sacramento River behind the rodeo grounds Tuesday. At around Noon witnesses say the car was being driven erratically around the boat launch parking lot as the driver was yelling out his window for everyone to get out of his way. As he sped toward the parking lot exit he veered to the left and rolled off the embankment into the river. He’s fortunate that a large oak tree stopped the car from continuing downriver into deeper waters. When emergency personnel arrived the man was still behind the wheel unconscious. his identity hasn’t been confirmed but the car is registered to 58-year-old Monty Thomas. He was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and released to the hospital for treatment.
