A 36-year-old Happy Valley man has been found guilty of vehicular manslaughter by a jury. In July of 2013 Justin Arrowsmith was sitting on a camouflage quadrunner with its lights off on Lassen Avenue in Happy Valley talking to two pedestrians. It was very dark so when Bryan Reed came along on a Harley-Davidson he couldn’t see hit the quad and rear-ended it. The collision threw 41-year-old Gina Hansen to the ground, causing head and neck injuries and she was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Arrowsmith was drunk and Reed was allegedly on Methamphetamine. His case is still pending. After the crash Arrowsmith told the other pedestrian to say she had been driving the quad and he fled to his home, where he was found an hour and a half later. He eventually admitted he had fled because he was scared and said he didn’t report the injured woman because he was busy at home barbecuing his dinner. Arrowsmith has four prior DUI’s and faces a maximum of 10 years in state prison when he’s sentenced October 3rd.
