Redding Police say a man’s suspicious behavior caused them to take a second look. It was 8:45AM Tuesday morning at the parking lot of the Win-River Mini Mart on South Bonnyview Road when officers approached 29-year-old Velai Mokthephathai sitting in a car. He was apparently trying to hotwire the car, though he told officers it belonged to him. When he was told to stand up it was revealed that he had been sitting on a Glock handgun, which was stolen in a residential burglary in Redding in December. The car was searched, turning up four more concealed handguns, a Methamphetamine pipe, and burglary tools including a lock pick set, bolt cutters and a modified key used to steal cars. Mokthephathai was booked into jail.
