Man Loses Finger In Apparent Road Rage Incident

What might have begun as a road rage incident escalated into two arrests, damaged vehicles and a lost finger. Just after Noon Wednesday Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Lake Boulevard at Peterson Lane. They found a crowd of people and started interviewing them. They say that 26-year-old Flynn Jones had made threats toward 55-year-old John Jefferson and tried to hit him with a steel pipe. Jones allegedly used the pipe to beat on Jefferson’s car and break one of the windows. When he reached through the broken window he severed one of his fingers on the broken glass. Jefferson then reportedly tried to run over Jones. Deputies caught up to Jefferson in front of the courthouse in Redding. Jones was found at Shasta Regional Medical Center. His finger was found in Jefferson’s car and delivered to the hospital. It’s not known if it was successfully reattached. Both men will be charged with felony assault.
