A fatal shooting in the small Trinity County community of Salyer is still under investigation, though suspicions have mostly been put to rest. Sunday afternoon a Hispanic man from out of the area was found deceased from a gunshot to the head. The shooting was under investigation by the Trinity County Sheriff’s Department but apparently a note was found stating that he was sorry and with instructions on what to do with his things. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week, but the sheriff’s office says it appears the gunshot was self-inflicted.
