Burglars have hit a Cottonwood school for the third time, and Tehama County detectives think they know who it is. Â In July somebody broke the lock on the freezer door at Evergreen Elementary School and stole about $1200 worth of frozen food. Â School officials didn’t report the theft, but they installed video surveillance. Â On August 31st the lock was broken again and about $600 worth of food was taken. Â Surveillance showed a blue minivan being used. Â A much more sophisticated lock was installed in response. Â Very early Monday morning the thieves returned and found the improved lock so they used a truck to pull a metal bar off the door, causing $25,000 damage. Â About $2000 worth of food was taken. Â Surveillance showed the same blue minivan, as well as a Dodge Dakota pickup and a motorcycle. Â Detectives asked around Cottonwood and heard that 40-year-old Donald Harrison had been trying to sell bulk quantities of food in Anderson. Â Probation searches were done at 2 homes in Anderson and Cottonwood and about 300 pounds of food was found. Â A search was done of Harrison’s home on Riverland Drive and another 90 pounds of frozen food was found. Â The three vehicles caught on camera all apparently belong to Harrison. Â All that’s missing now is Harrison himself.
