A planned flooding of the Klamath River will triple its size for one day starting Wednesday afternoon. The action by Pacific Corp was requested by the Bureau of Reclamation in coordination with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and basin tribes. It’s hoped that the increased flows will reduce the incidence of fish disease by stranding Chinook Salmon carcasses on the river bank. Starting at 4 O’clock Wednesday afternoon the flow of the Klamath below Iron Gate Dam will go from 1000 to 3000 cubic feet per second. The peak should come late Wednesday evening and it should be back to normal late Thursday afternoon.
