Spectators are not encouraged for Tuesday’s demolition of the old Antlers Bridge in Lakehead. The blasting is set for 9 O’clock Tuesday morning. Cal-Trans says Interstate 5 will be closed for 20 minutes while explosives are used to bring down the many tons of steel and concrete that have made up the Antlers Bridge for 77 years. A new 125 Million Dollar bridge opened beside it in September after 7 years of construction. Tuesday’s demolition goes off rain or shine. The sheriff’s office, CHP and Forest Service will be restricting traffic, not only on the freeway, but also on Forest Service roads and on the water. The demolition will be livestreamed on the KQMS Facebook page.
