A Shasta County Probation Department facility that was established to deal with the influx of AB-109 parolees has had its proponents, as well as many detractors. Both may want to get a close look for themselves during an open house on Friday. The Community Corrections Day Reporting Center located on Court Street across from the County Administrative building opened four years ago as part of the public safety realignment plan. The center provides intense treatment and training for moderate-to-high-risk offenders on how to become employed, law-abiding members of society. It combines daily reporting and drug and alcohol testing with special training in anger management, family training, employment skills, and aftercare. The public is welcome to check it out during an open house this Friday from 11 to 2.
