Teen Kidnapped From Tennessee Found In Siskiyou County

An accused kidnapper from Tennessee has been caught in Siskiyou County. Wednesday night the sheriff’s office got a tip that 50-year-old Tad Cummins and a teenage girl were staying at a cabin in Cecilville, a tiny and remote town in the mountains toward the southern edge of the county. Deputies responded and saw that Cummins Nissan Rogue was parked there. The vehicle and Cummins had been identified in an AMBER Alert that was broadcast nationwide March 14th in connection to the disappearance of 15-year-old Elizabeth Thomas. ¬†Before the kidnapping, Cummins had been a teacher at the girl’s school in Maury County, Tennessee. Since Cummins was believed to be armed with two handguns, officials waited until Thursday morning to make their move. A perimeter was set up around the cabin and they waited for Cummins to come outside, which he did at around 9:30AM Thursday morning, followed by Thomas. Two loaded handguns were found in the cabin. Cummins will face Siskiyou County charges before being extradited to Tennessee. The girl has been placed in the care of the Redding FBI office.
