Woman Found Guilty For 2014 Fatal DUI Crash

A jury has found a 54-year-old Redding woman responsible for the death of a young mother in a traffic collision 3 years ago. 27-year-old Hayley Riggins eventually died of injuries that put her into a coma on April 24th of 2014 when her motorcycle ran into a car driven by Virginia Anderson at Placer and Buenaventura. Anderson had run a red light, was driving on a suspended license, and was under the influence of Methamphetamine and prescription pills. In 2014 judges twice dismissed second degree murder charges the D.A.’s Office had filed against Anderson, saying there was no evidence of malice or intent. On Thursday a jury returned a guilty verdict for driving under the influence of drugs causing great bodily injury. She could get up to 8 years in prison when she’s sentenced on June 21st.
