Man Sentenced To Prison For Stealing Baby Cow

A Tehama County cattle rustler has been sentenced to prison. On New Years Day of this year, Arthur Thomas reported that someone had stolen a 1-month-old Black Angus calf from his ranch in Flournoy. Thomas said the calf was stolen by 28-year-old Daniel Humphrey sometime in the previous week. Humphrey’s uncle had called Thomas to say there was a calf in his pasture with Thomas’ brand. State Agriculture investigators found the calf and returned it to Thomas, and eventually Humphrey turned himself in. A friend of Humphrey’s said he was trying to sell the calf for $400. Last week Humphrey was sentenced to 2 years 8 months in state prison.
