Two arrests have been made in connection with the shooting of a teenager at an East Redding home early Monday morning. Shortly before 5AM Redding Police responded to a report of shots fired at 1430 Mistletoe Lane, a couple of blocks east of Mistletoe School. A 16-year-old boy had been shot once in the torso, according to Redding Police Lieutenant Pete Brindley. There were several people at the home and they were all brought in for questioning. Those interviews led police to identify their primary suspect as 19-year-old Enrique Padilla. After learning that Padilla may have been staying at the Best Western on Twin View Boulevard, investigators started watching the place. At around 2 O’clock Tuesday morning Padilla was seen driving away so a traffic stop was done and he was taken into custody. Â Evidence of Padilla’s involvement was found during a search of the hotel room. During questioning, Padilla allegedly made incriminating statements and he was booked into jail for attempted murder and felony child endangerment. Â 23-year-old Christian Smith-Gray was also arrested on the same charges. A clear motive has not been confirmed, but Padilla was apparently upset that his ex-girlfriend, who lives at the Mistletoe Lane home, was seeing other people.
