A large amount of smoke could be seen coming from Lake Shasta Monday. The Forest Service is planning a prescribed burn about seven miles north of Redding in the area of Squaw Creek and the Pit River arms of the lake. About 350 acres will be burned depending on conditions. Smoke could linger for several days.
