Siskiyou County Sheriff’s officials are trying to identify a woman in their custody after she was chased in a stolen car Monday night. A little after 10 O’clock Mount Shasta Police were checking a report of a suspicious car on Spring Hill Trail. When they found the Volkswagon Jetta, it sped away with no headlights. Officers chased the car through Mount Shasta City and onto Northbound Interstate 5, where the CHP took over the chase. A spike strip disabled the car in the Grenada area. The driver at first refused to get out but eventually surrendered. She had no identification and has still refused to identify herself. No record has been found of her fingerprints, either. The car had been reported stolen in February from Chesapeake, Virginia.
