Anderson’s Problem Oriented Policing Unit said they were kicking off their summertime enforcement operations by sweeping through a neighborhood and making nearly a dozen arrests on Friday. The unit is partly funded by the City of Anderson’s 2014 public safety sales tax. Friday’s sweep was done in the Bruce Street area, where about 30 people were contacted through probation searches, traffic stops and pedestrian contacts. Over the course of a few hours six people were arrested on outstanding warrants, 3 were arrested on drug charges, and two were arrested on various misdemeanors. Officers also detained a person who was wanted for questioning by the sheriff’s office.
