Prescribed Burns Planned Near Vina

Cal-Fire, in a cooperative effort with the Nature Conservancy, will do controlled rangeland burns near Los Molinos this week. The burns will improve cattle grazing conditions by eliminating a lot of invasive weeds like Medusa Head and Star Thistle. They’ll also provide an opportunity for live fire training. The burns are part of a cost sharing program to encourage prescribed fires on private property. If weather conditions allow it, 150 acres will be torched in the Dye Creek area between the hours of 10AM and 5PM Tuesday and another 150 acres will be torched Wednesday in the Vina Plains off Highway 99 and Hallie Road.
