State Grants Will Bring $270-Million To 9 Northern Counties

A lot of jail building money is coming to Northern California. The grants are generated from 103 Million Dollars of savings the state estimated as resulting from Proposition 47. In the latest round announced by the Board of State and Community Corrections, 9 counties will be receiving a total of $270 Million. Lassen County is getting $25 Million for women inmate housing, medical and mental health housing, and new treatment space. The money will not provide for any additional inmate capacity. Modoc County is getting 24.5 Million Dollars to build a new jail, which will have 11 more beds than the existing jail. Mendocino and Plumas Counties are also getting $25 Million each.
