Former Chief May Fill In As City Searches For Replacement

With the sudden departure of Redding Police Chief Rob Paoletti, the city is thinking about calling a former chief back from retirement to lead the department until a more permanent replacement can be found to take the job. Peter Hansen worked for the department for 28 years before becoming chief in 2008. Rob Paoletti was a Stockton Police Captain before being hired to replace Hansen in 2011. For now Captain Eric Wallace is handling the chief’s responsibilities, but he also runs the investigations division, which is obviously a full-time job. Pete Hansen is apparently willing to move back from his home in Washington State to take the temporary position as chief. The city council will be asked to approve the arrangement, likely at its July 18th meeting.
