An Anderson Police K9 was used to take down a man allegedly threatening officers with a feigned weapon. Just before 8 Saturday night there was report of two men, one possibly with a rifle, arguing behind some businesses on Balls Ferry Road. When officers searched around for the men, they found 23-year-old Travis Lee of Redding in a wooded area near the Anderson Creek Interstate 5 overpass. He had an item in his hands that looked like a gun and officers ordered him to drop it. He wouldn’t dropped it at first and even pointed it at the officers, but eventually he dropped it. Then, as officers were approaching him, Lee reportedly reached toward his rear waistband as if for a weapon. That’s when Iro the K9 was set on him. During the ensuing struggle between Lee and the officers, one officer suffered a broken hand. He and Lee were both transported to a hospital. The thing Lee had been carrying was a large piece of metal. When asked why, he said he had found it and thought it looked like a shotgun. Lee is on post release supervision out of Sutter County for assault with a deadly weapon.
