Update: Man Arrested After Chase Through Multiple Counties

The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office has released a detailed description of the events that led to a manhunt ending in Nevada County Tuesday. At 8:12AM deputies responded to reports of an active shooter at a home on Highway 36 west of Red Bluff. The caller said she and three other people were inside the Bilich Family house and under siege from a gunman firing at them. The dispatcher could hear the barrage of shots in the background. The shooter was identified as 35-year-old Ian Michael Gonzales, the ex-boyfriend of a 35-year-old woman in the house. He had apparently arrived at the home and burst inside, brandishing a handgun at his ex-girlfriend and trying to kidnap her. Gonzales was physically prevented from taking the woman by 71-year-old Daniel Bilich. Gonzales then returned to his truck and reportedly pulled out a high capacity rifle and started firing it into the house where the people were, but none of them were hit. He allegedly forced his way back inside to attempt the kidnap again, but the family had armed themselves and when they confronted him he fled in his green Ford truck. On his way out he reportedly said he was going to have a gun battle with police if they tried to capture him. Meanwhile multiple law enforcement agencies were rushing to the location but he was gone when they got there. An area search was done with help from a CHP helicopter, but the pickup could not be found. Later in the day a Butte County Deputy spotted the green truck near Oroville and a pursuit started, which continued into Yuba County and then Nevada County,  where a spike strip was used, causing Gonzales to crash and roll the truck. He was trapped in the overturned pickup and needed extrication by rescue personnel. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and is in custody at an undisclosed hospital. He was arrested for the chase and is pending multiple counts of attempted murder and other charges.
