A man busted by Redding’s Neighborhood Police Unit in February has been arrested after a probation search. 54-year-old Clifford Jay Markhart of Redding was arrested on February 21st after trying to meet what he thought was a 15-year-old girl at a park. He had been caught up in an internet underage sex sting after taking the bait and responding to an online ad. He started a correspondence with the girl, who was actually a police officer. Markham was sentenced to 75 days in jail, required to register as a sex offender, and was placed on probation. During Tuesday night’s search, officers say they found two guns, which Markham is not allowed to possess. He was booked into jail.
