A man was shot dead by police in East Redding early Friday morning. At around 2:30AM RPD Officers responded to a home on Wilson Avenue east of Shasta View for a reported domestic violence incident, according to Redding Police Captain Eric Wallace. As officers were talking to the suspect, he apparently confronted one of them while outside of the residence. The man was armed with a handgun and fired at the officer. The officer returned fire and the man was struck by gunfire. The man was pronounced dead a the scene. His name is not yet available. No officers or civilians were hit by gunfire. The investigation continues.
