Drunk Woman Arrested After Allegedly Stabbing Her Boyfriend

A Corning woman is accused of attacking her boyfriend with a butcher knife. At 2:10AM Monday morning a Corning Police volunteer saw a car on First Street being driven very fast, running stop signs, and weaving erratically. Corning Police Officers responded and stopped the car. The driver, 39-year-old Stephanie Purcell, got out and reportedly was staggering, slurring her words and reeking of alcohol. She told officers she had been in a fight with her boyfriend at his home on First Street and she had a stab wound to her hand. Officers drove Purcell to the First Street house, where 60-year-old Steven David McKinney was sitting on his front porch with a large stab wound to his shoulder. He said Purcell had done it with a 6 inch butcher knife. He was taken to Saint Elizabeth Hospital, where he received 8 staples to hold his wound together. It was determined that Purcell was the aggressor in the fight and that she had suffered her own wound while attacking McKinney. She was booked into jail for assault with a deadly weapon and DUI.
