A forest closure is now in effect for the area around an escaped control burn in Trinity County. The Grape Fire was a prescribed burn that got away from the Forest Service a week ago. It’s located about 10 miles north of Hayfork near Grapevine Creek. It’s estimated to be about 244 acres with 40% containment. No structures are threatened, according to the Forest Service. Hand crews and dozers are being used to build a line around the fire. Although the rain helped slow the fire, it also has caused problems with driving and navigating the steep terrain. The public should be cautious of fire engines on Hyampom Road and South Fork Road.
