Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who has expressed a particular dislike for Cannabis, has an ally in Siskiyou County Sheriff Jon Lopey. The Sheriff says that his department has been receiving special federal funding for their Marijuana eradication campaign and that the U.S. Justice Department has designated Siskiyou County as a “high intensity drug trafficking area”, meaning additional federal funding will be used in Jon Lopey’s ongoing battle against the now-decriminalized plant. Lopey also says the county board of supervisors will soon approve what he calls a “robust enforcement protocol” for building and property codes to allow for a rapid abatement process and increased fines. On Tuesday the Siskiyou Interagency Marijuana Team raided a home on Perla Drive in the Mount Shasta Vista Area and seized 183 marijuana plants, 166 pounds of processed bud and a gun. No arrests were made as the place was apparently abandoned.
