Several People Face Federal Charges After Lassen County Drug Busts

Several Lassen County residents are facing federal charges after a series of sting operations. Joseph Vanmear of Susanville was arrested during a traffic stop and charged with possession with intent to distribute Methamphetamine and being a felon with a gun for a 22 revolver he allegedly had under his seat. He faces up to life in prison. Erika Schmid of Ravendale was arrested after a search warrant was served at her home, allegedly turning up multiple firearms and body armor. She faces up to 10 years in prison. Darrel Kratzberg is charged with 5 counts of distributing Methamphetamine and 3 counts of distributing Heroin. He was reported as a long time supplier for the Susanville area. He could get 20 years in prison and a Million Dollar fine for each of his 8 counts. Kenneth Miles and Michael Spillers might both face decades in prison after reportedly selling guns to a police informant. All the federal cases are results of investigations by the FBI, the California Department of Corrections, the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and Susanville Police.
