The Butte County Sheriff’s Department has made an arrest after two separate attempted kidnappings. The first happened just before 5PM Wednesday on Knob Hill Avenue in Oroville. A woman driving a black Toyota Tacoma approached some children playing in a yard. She tried to entice the youngsters into her pickup by offering candy and donuts. A neighbor scared the woman off and the children are ok. The woman is described as white, with blonde hair and blue eyes, possibly in her 40’s. The second incident occurred late that same night on 12th Street in Oroville. A 13-year old girl said that a man approached her and grabbed her wrist. The girl screamed and was able to free herself and run away. According to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, 30-year-old Jonathan Ray Burg of Oroville, was arrested Thursday for attempted kidnapping and has been booked into the Butte County Jail with a bail of $500,000.
