Man Sentenced To 18 Years For 2014 Shooting

In a criminal case dating back five years, a Douglas City man has been sentenced to 18 and a half years in state prison. Andrew Howard Hall’s murder conviction in 2016 was overturned. Last month, Hall was found guilty of lesser charges at his second trial. He was found guilty of attempted voluntary manslaughter with special allegations of use of a firearm and causing great bodily injury, as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. In July of 2014, Hall shot Eugene Walker on a marijuana farm in Douglas City. Walker survived being shot. Hall could not be found after the shooting and wasn’t arrested until November 2015. Hall’s 2016 conviction was reversed by an appellate court due to incomplete instructions to the jury. There had also been an earlier mistrial in the case.
