Grant Will Help Fund Resurfacing Project At Fall River Airport

A Shasta County airport has been granted funding from the Federal Aviation Administration for resurfacing projects. The county has been awarded just over $422,000 for the Fall River Airport to resurface the access road, taxiway and 5,000 foot long runway. The money comes from the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program, which provides 90 percent of the funding. According to the County’s Deputy Director of Engineering, Al Cathey, the State of California provides additional funding, bringing the outside funding total to almost 95 percent. Shasta County, which owns and operates the airport, will provide the money for the rest of the project, which will take place in the first quarter of next year. The money is part of nearly One Billion Dollars going to 354 airports. The City of Redding, which owns both Benton Airpark and Redding Municipal Airport, did not have any requests in for this funding cycle.
