A Reno woman was killed in a crash near Hat Creek in Eastern Shasta County on Saturday. At around 10AM a Chevy Trailblazer was northbound on Highway 89 just south of Doty Road when it veered off the highway and struck a large tree stump. The SUV rolled over a couple of times and landed on its wheels. The driver, a 40-year-old woman from Reno, wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and she was ejected out the driver’s side window. She suffered severe head trauma and died on her way to the hospital. A 2-year-old passenger, who was strapped in, suffered a minor laceration to the back of her head and a chipped tooth.
