Getaway Driver Sentenced To Prison For Corning Rite Aid Robbery

A man suspected in the robbery of a Redding pharmacy has been sentenced for a robbery in Corning committed on the same day. On July 22nd two males took prescription drugs during a robbery at the Rite Aid Pharmacy at Churn Creek and Cypress. The robbers jumped over the pharmacy counter and stuffed bottles of medication into pillow cases before fleeing on foot. Just over an hour later, Corning Police were called to the Rite Aid on Edith Avenue for a robbery that was described exactly like the one in Redding. They fled in a gray Ford Focus that was parked behind the building. A short time later a Glenn County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted the car on Interstate Five near the Colusa County line and pulled it over. The car was reported stolen out of Sacramento. 26-year-old Omar Deavone Davis was arrested along with two 16-year-old males, all of them from Sacramento. Some of the stolen pills were also found in the car. No weapons were seen in either robbery. Apparently the teenagers were the robbers and Davis was the getaway driver. He’s been sentenced to 7 years in state prison.
