Redding Police, Orland Police and the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office are noting the similarities in three pharmacy robberies Wednesday night. At 6:35PM two black males jumped the pharmacy counter at the Rite-Aid in Olivehurst. They stole prescription medication and fled. At 8:57PM, Orland Police responded to the Walgreens on Newville Road on a report that a black man wearing a gray hoodie and gray sweatpants stole medication and fled the store. Less than 2 hours later, at 10:40PM, the Walgreens at East Cypress and Churn Creek in Redding was robbed. A black male forced his way into the pharmacy area and demanded drugs and money. After getting what he asked for, he fled in a car. Responding officers saw the car getting onto Southbound Interstate Five from Cypress Avenue and went after it. The driver refused to yield, then pulled off at South Bonneyview and headed west. The car slowed to allow two passengers to jump out and run. They were both teenagers and were eventually captured. The car was stopped on Bechelli Lane and the driver, 40-year-old Vince Davis Qualls of Sacramento, was taken into custody. He was booked for robbery, conspiracy, felony child endangerment, evading, drug possession and more. The two teenagers were booked into juvenile hall for robbery and conspiracy.
