A facility to care for abused children is about to become a reality. Rural Northern California has a per capita child abuse rate that’s several times that of urban areas to the south. The initial investment in the “Children’s Legacy Center” is about a Million Dollars for operating costs and renovation of the building, which is on Shasta Street at Liberty Street. About 80% of that has been raised from state and federal grants and the remainder will be sought from local concerned individuals and organizations.
