A Cottonwood man was arrested Thursday night by Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies who were looking for a different man. At 7:30PM, deputies were accompanied by Anderson Police as they responded to a domestic violence call at a home on Second Street. They were familiar with the house and knew there would likely be a lot of people there. Deputies knocked on the door but were ignored by the occupants. They saw a man in the backyard with clothing matching the description of the domestic violence suspect, and he was leaning over into the open door of a car. He was ordered to back away from the car and show his hands, but he refused at first. 29-year-old Robert Lloyd Tyler was detained and on the seat of the car deputies reported finding a 22 revolver that was still warm, as if Tyler had been hiding it. Tyler was not the suspect that was being sought, but he looked similar. Tyler was arrested for being a felon with a gun, and he also reportedly had a gram of heroin in his pocket. The original suspect was not found.
