Details are extremely scarce concerning an officer involved shooting that left someone dead in Downtown Redding early Sunday morning. At 3:20AM Redding Police pulled over a car on Pine Street just north of the intersection with Cypress Avenue. The course of events is not clear, the department is only saying that circumstances led to one officer discharging his firearm, striking the suspect. What crime the person was suspected of has not been released. The sheriff’s office is leading the investigation. Pine Street was closed for about 7 hours after the shooting.
