3PM Tuesday: 46 New Cases Reported In Butte County, 25 In Tehama County

Shasta County has reported another dozen Coronavirus cases for a total of 323. They range in age from their teens to their 60’s and 8 have symptoms. Eight Shasta County residents have died. There are 47 active cases. 9 people are hospitalized, one of them in intensive care. 217 people are quarantined due to possible exposure.

Butte County reported 46 new cases Tuesday bringing their total to 866. 2 Additional deaths were reported over the weekend for a total of 7. Most of the cases are being reported in Chico. The county was placed on the state watch list last week.

Tehama County has reported an additional 25 cases over the weekend for 214 cases with one death. Glenn County is on the state watch list, with 303 cases and one death. Lassen County has had 56 cases in the community, in addition to 499 in the prison population. Siskiyou County has had 65. There have been 205 in Humboldt County with 4 deaths. Trinity County reported a 4th case on Tuesday. There are still none confirmed in Modoc County.

20,827 tests have shown negative results in Shasta County. Those numbers don’t include people who have been tested for antibodies, as Vitalant has been doing with all blood donors. Anyone can still get tested for free, whether showing symptoms or not. The best option for testing can be determined by going to and clicking on “get tested”.

Public Health is urging people who attended a church gathering last week at the Sundial Bridge to keep themselves quarantined for 14 days and then get tested.

Shasta County is not on the governor’s watch list, but public health says the only way to prevent further restrictions is by following the guidelines of face covering, social distancing, restricting travel and staying home when sick.
