A man apparently fell asleep while driving and crashed his vehicle into a utility pole right in front of Redding Fire Station Number 5, according to Redding Police. At 12:18PM 1st responders were called to Hartnell Avenue and found a Nissan Sentra crashed into a pole near the intersection of Hartnell and School Street. 38-year-old Sean Ireland was driving northbound on School Street when he apparently fell asleep and crashed into a utility pole in front of the fire station. Both Ireland and his 44-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries. Officers don’t believe drugs or alcohol were a factor. Hartnell avenue was briefly closed to allow crews to move a cable line that had fallen into the roadway.
