Felony Child Endangerment Charges Filed After Officers Raid Deplorable Home

Three people arrested on Wednesday in a filthy home at a North Redding trailer park are being charged with 4 counts each of felony child endangerment. RPD Officers were asked to check on the welfare of the 4 juveniles living at the Oakwood Mobile Park on Lake Boulevard after a reported electrical problem. Jack and Nola Vandeventer and Robert Hulsey said they were responsible for the 17, 12, 11 and 9-year-old children. The mobile home was infested with bugs and rats, which had bored holes in the sub floor and eaten the electrical wiring. Open electrical boxes contained wiring that had been patched together. A water leak had saturated the place and was dripping onto the ground in several places. There were 41 dogs living with the seven people and feces was everywhere. County Children and Family Services took custody of the youngsters and the dogs were taken by Haven Humane. The adults were arraigned Friday.
