A woman was killed Wednesday night as she tried to cross Hartnell Avenue in East Redding. At around 6:30PM, the unidentified woman was walking a dog along Hartnell just west of Victor near Dude’s Drive-In when she tried to get across the road from north side to the south. An eastbound 2005 Chevy Trailblazer came along in the right-hand lane and the driver apparently could not see the pedestrian in the dark. She was struck by the SUV, suffering major injuries, and died after arriving at Mercy Hospital. Her name will be released after her family is notified.
