New Evacuations Warnings Issued In Trinity County

Two big Trinity County lightning fires keep growing, and both Highway 299 and Highway 36 are closed.

The Monument Fire has burned more than 36,000 acres with zero containment. Del Loma is under evacuation orders along with Big Bar and Cedar Flat. Warnings have been issued for Burnt Ranch and Big Flat and there are now fears that the fire could reach Junction City in the next few days.

The McFarland Fire, straddling the Shasta/Trinity County line south of Hayfork is now at more than 26,600 acres with just 7% containment. The Town of Wildwood was ordered to evacuate last Sunday night. Warnings are issued for the Trinity Pines and Post Mountain areas, as well as Harrison Gulch Road in Shasta County. An evacuation warning was issued Thursday for the Platina area, for residents on both sides of Highway 36 from Sunday Gulch Road to the Shasta/Tehama County line.
