A majority of the PG&E customers who lost electricity in this week’s Public Safety Power Shutoff have been restored, but thousands in Shasta County are still in the dark. The shutoff by PG&E started Tuesday afternoon, affecting around 48,000 customers, with almost 16,000 of them in Shasta County. PG&E says everyone should by restored by late Thursday evening after crews inspect the entire grid for damage. Winds were measured Wednesday on Wilson Hill Road near Shingletown at 48 miles an hour, Jarbo Gap in Butte County at 56 miles an hour, and Thomes Creek in Tehama County at 55 miles an hour. Customers can check on their status at pge.com/pspsupdates. Grant School and Happy Valley Schools are still closed Thursday.
