More than 6,500 wildfires have burned 1.2 Million acres in California this season. The danger of more wildfire starts, as well as the threat from current fires, has led the Forest Service to declare a closure of nine Northern California national forests, including the enormous Shasta-Trinity. The others are Modoc, Klamath, Plumas, Tahoe, Lake Tahoe Basin, Lassen, Six Rivers and Mendocino. The closure order is in effect from this Sunday through September 6th, at which time it may be renewed.
