Classes were canceled at a Redding high school on Friday after a student posted a violent threat on social media, according to Police. Thursday evening the RPD learned that a student of University Preparatory School on Eureka Way had posted threats via Snapchat. After discussing it with police, school officials decided to cancel classes on Friday. Detectives got an emergency search warrant for the Snapchat account and traced it to a 12-year-old UPREP student, who eventually confessed to the post. Police say the boy had no access to weapons and no means to carry out the threat. The case was sent to Juvenile Probation for possible charges.
