Crews Gaining Upper Hand On Trinity Wildfires

There’s been minimal activity on the McFarland Fire, other than smoldering well within the perimeter. The McFarland burned 122,700 acres in three counties, and is 94% contained. At least 24 homes and 22 other structures have been destroyed. Work continues on hot spots in Beegum Gorge. All evacuations have been lifted.

Lines have been holding well for the Monument Fire. Evacuation orders remain for parts of Hayfork and Junction City, as well as Helena and Barker Mountain. Many other areas have been repopulated but remain under evacuation warnings. More than 8,000 homes are still threatened by the Monument Fire, which has burned more than 163,100 acres and is 29% contained. 21 structures, along with 29 minor structures, have been destroyed. 6 firefighters have been injured.
