COVID-19 cases continue to grow in Shasta County. Another 153 were confirmed from Wednesday, with 90 of them under the age of 40 and 25 under the age of 20. Shasta County has the highest case rate in California. There are 1,117 known cases in the community, 87 in the hospital and 24 in the ICU. Vaccination is highly effective, and works against the variants as well. Some vaccinated people still get Covid, but it rarely hits them very hard. Anyone who’s been exposed or tested positive should follow the isolation instructions at shastaready.org. That’s also where information on testing and vaccinations can be found.
