Sale Of City Land Near The River Would Transform Area Into A Tourist Mecca

There are a lot of hurdles to jump before anything is done at the Redding riverfront. The first of four workshops were held Wednesday night to give the public a chance gather information and weigh in on an unsolicited offer to purchase about 200 acres of land including Turtle Bay, the Rodeo Grounds, and the Civic Auditorium. A group called Populous, along with the McConnell Foundation, and K2 Development want to take the property and massively transform it into a tourist mecca complete with housing, shopping, and possibly even a stadium for concerts and sporting events.
